ABOUT |
| |
| |
Magicfolk combine traditional and modern influences, creating music |
| |
with a powerful, otherworldly atmosphere. Their songs range from |
| |
ethereal ballads and introspective acoustic moments, to progressive |
| |
rock, psychedelia and medieval dance. |

Inspired by the magical and mystical aspects of existence expressed |
| |
in mythology and folklore, Magicfolk’s songs yet always find relevance |
| |
in the modern and personal. What is myth - but the expression of those |
| |
things humankind feels - yet can’t quite explain? |
| |
|
| |
“Genuinely something new for fans of esoteric folk, their lyrics sing |
| |
of folklore and magic, evoking the mystery within the music." |

Myth and magic will always be part of human life, no matter which stories |
| |
|
speak to us; whether they be from ancient Greece, Lord of the Rings, or |
| |
|
Harry Potter. Magicfolk explores this tapestry of ideas, weaving threads of |
| |
|
ancient belief into present experience. |

| |
|
(bass, EWI, theremin) founded Magicfolk in 2003, and remain the driving |
| |
|
force behind the band. Drummer Geoff Charlton and lead guitarist Lee |
| |
|
Morant have been long-term collaborators, and completing the present |
| |
|
line-up are Chris Scupham on keyboards and Rachael Murray on flute. |
| |
|
The band have also worked with other past members and guests during |
| |
|
the development of the new album, in particular Colin Mold, who has since |
| |
|
taken on the mantle of lead guitarist with Karnataka. |
